The Degritter Fonotech Record Cleaning Machine

For those who have migrated from the (now) old-fashioned vacuum cleaner style record cleaner to the various decavitation machines, the Degritter has established itself as one of the most popular and reliable machines on the market. At close to 3,000 Euros, however, it has spawned a few home brew alternatives. For those unwilling to construct their own decavitating machines, and looking for any even more reliable and foolproof decavitation cleaning regimen, Degritter was showing its new high end machine that provides even more control over the experience and less chance of harming your records. The new machine incorporates a filtration system for the rinse water and cleaning tanks so that the “grit” from prior cleanings does not get recycled onto the next record cleaned with the machine. The unit no longer fits on a table top, and the much higher device has a front grill cloth covering the filtration system. Two microfiber brushes that remove surface dirt are removable, cleanable and replaceable. Two tanks, one for the cleaning fluid and the other for the rinse are accessible form the top of the unit. The programmable unit allows you to select time of cleaning, a choice between washing and straight rinsing and drying time. The drive unit is also air cooled to allow continuace record cleaning without fear of over heating the unit. The new cleaning machine, dubbed the “Fonotech” by Degritter, will begin production by the Fall and is be priced at “about” 7000 Euros. Degritter is taking pre-orders.
