But all that musical integrity and communication only arrives if you get everything else in the system right. That’s no big chore, simply a case of best practice, but it’s no coincidence that, with the arrival of the Lilli, Neodio can now offer a complete system solution, from wall socket to sound in the room. With a day to play with, I was certainly able to ring the changes and one thing became instantly apparent. If you take liberties, like mixing and matching cables, the Lillis are going to express their displeasure in no uncertain terms. I ran the speakers on the end of a complete Neodio wiring loom to considerable benefit. I also ran them equally successfully with a complete set of Nordost Blue Heaven 3. What was important here, wasn’t the identity of the cable itself, but the coherence of the infrastructure feeding the system. Pay attention to the details of system set-up and the Lillis will respond, handsomely.
This was just a first listen, an exercise to establish whether Lilli was worthy of a full review. It’s a test she passed with a beguiling grace and a bounce in her step. Production units will be available in mid-February, 2026. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to spending considerably more time with this remarkable miniature. It’s one to seek out and hear, even if you aren’t in the market for a small speaker. Like all things Neodio and the Neodio system as a whole, it goes a long way towards understanding where other products and systems go wrong. Lilli’s a clever girl: she doesn’t do it all, but what does, she gets spot on.
