Craft Recordings Reissues:

That leaves only one of the “big three” record companies to launch its own vinyl jazz reissue series. Sony Records, owner of the massive Columbia catalog, has a significant jazz catalog, but it is not as deep as those of Fantasy or Blue Note. Given the fact that Sony has licensed its biggest jazz title (Miles Davis Kind of Blue) in the recent past to Analogue Productions, it looks like it is not likely to jump into the premium jazz reissue business anytime soon. One can only hope, but perhaps Sony will leave premium jazz reissues to the specialists and instead follow in the footsteps of Deutsche Grammophone and start a premium reissue program of its fabulous classical catalog. Now there’s a tasty morsel to chew on!
