Pletnev’s playing is genuinely beautiful: beautiful enough that I’ll seek another pressing of this album to see if I can unearth quieter surfaces. That might be easier said than done: effective pre-release marketing by DGG mean that it is currently sold out, at least in Europe. The later release date in the US means that it is still available to order there – at least at the time of writing. Given its runaway success, I’m sure DGG will re-press the album, although how soon is anybody’s guess… Meanwhile, be thankful that digital records like Debussy-Rameau, Continuum and Opus 109 can sound so good!
