Fairy Tale Ending?

If you are in the market for a digital control unit, one box to handle all your digital demands, provide system control (and offer analogue input options too) the Grimm MU2 is the most musically satisfying and affordable solution I’ve come across. Given the sheer breadth of functionality it offers, it delivers an awful lot of performance for the price. I’ve heard nothing cheaper that comes close, while the alternatives that better it cost considerably more. The path to audio Nirvana is crooked, convolute and far from clear. There’s an old joke that, on being asked for directions, a yokel sucks in a breath, tugs at his ear and replies, “Well – if I was heading for there, I wouldn’t start from here!” There again, maybe here is where you’re happy and where you’re happy to stay – certainly for the present. It’s easy to get esoteric and absolutist about audio solutions – especially if you get to enjoy a passing parade of expensive audio components and system budget is an abstract rather than a reality. The Grimm in contrast, is nothing if not pragmatic – and when it comes to your own, hard-earned funds, I can see that pragmatism hitting home. Just be equally pragmatic when it comes to system matching…
