The Reiki switch gear oozes audiophile sensibilities, from its stylishly minimalist and incredibly solid boxes to its modular, expandable nature, its equally minimalist connectivity to the fact that the power supplies are bigger than anything else. You can’t even tell if it’s on: what could be more audiophile than that? The answer is – the performance. Installing and working with the Reiki units has finally released the potential that’s been lurking un-tapped in the Reference Server. Given the cost of the Server, PSU and Akasa cabling that’s no mean feat – and a serious return on investment. Compared to the cost of generic switch-gear on Amazon, the Reiki units are far from cheap, but then you aren’t going to confuse them – or their musical contribution – with mass-market offerings either. Even by the accepted standards of audiophile network components, these are serious products, offering a serious solution for serious systems. They deliver serious results. In fact, in the context of my set-up it’s no exaggeration to describe their impact as transformational. The SOtM switches have long been the benchmark for audiophile network use. Their face-off with the Reiki gear was the sonic equivalent of a Fiat 500 running straight into a wrecking ball coming the other way. Rarely have I heard an audio benchmark so comprehensively crushed!
Reiki Audio is a small operation, but one that’s scaling up to meet a rapidly growing demand for its products. Having experienced a Reiki rig I can understand the enthusiasm. This may be a small company now, but it is deservedly destined for big things.
