A collection of gentle pop-songs, beautifully sung in German and recorded in single studio takes, this disc may not present a classical perspective, but it captures the inner relationships within the band perfectly. With outstandingly natural tonality, the performances are redolent with harmonic and textural detail, but with a rhythmic integrity that really allows them to breathe. The trick here is to find that natural balance without the system exaggerating or distorting the relationship between the instruments. The drum kit can easily become intrusive, the cymbal work irritating if you don’t have the system properly integrated and coherent. If instruments start to pop out of the mix, you know there’s something awry.
