The double LP is worth special mention. The gatefold sleeve is beautifully produced, as seems to be he current norm for DGG. Just look at and feel the Vikingur Olafsson album sleeves as an example of this. But the Arrivalsleeve really raises the bar, the matt-black card carrying a minimal, knocked back logo surrounded by an embossed Heptapod glyph – the circular, written language that needs to be decoded in the film. Seriously classy! And this is a record set that sounds as good as it looks. Not only does it bring dramatically more space and dynamic contrast to the music, there’s a broader tonal range too. You even get a small bonus in the shape of Max Richter’s On The Nature Of Daylight. It’s a vinyl tour de force, but be warned, those throbbing bass lines will give your cartridge a serious tracking test…
