Like many companies, Göbel, faced with a potentially crucial review of a key new product have taken every step to ensure that the reported results are representative. A big part of that is ensuring that the product delivers on its potential, something that involves everything from system matching to the listening space, running in and speaker positioning. To that end, the company has employed Stirling Trayle to place the speakers and ensure system optimization. And before you all start screaming “Foul” at the introduction of a ringer, the company is also planning to employ Stirling to install and set-up all Monarques sold in the US. Having worked with Stirling so many times before, I can only applaud the initiative. I might be able to set up the Monarques and get a good result. Stirling will do it better. So, my role becomes preparing the system, doing all of the time-consuming “house-keeping” tasks so necessary to system performance – and doing them well in advance, so that when Mr Trayle turns up, he has a warm and settled system to work with. To that end, the steps described above have all been completed more than a week before his arrival, the system left to play in the meantime.
